  • The janitorial service at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in the terminals. Each day, our cleaning staff follows a process to sanitize the terminals, which is similar to what occurs in a hospital. Also, hand sanitizers have been placed in many high-traffic locations throughout the terminals.Markings on the floor and the installation of acrylic shields, primarily on ticket counters and gate podiums, encourage social distancing. Signage throughout the terminals reminds airport visitors and staff to wear face coverings, as well as practice social distancing and good hygiene. In accordance with Governor Whitmer's Executive Order, face coverings are required in DTW's terminals and must be worn by workers and passengers, unless they cannot be medically tolerated.

  • We continue to use MERV-8 pre-filters and MERV 16 final filters in building air exchange systems for maximum efficiency to remove small particles such as coronavirus. We have also installed HEPA filters where appropriate. Pre-filters are changed every 3-4 months. And we have increased the minimum outside air from 20% to 30% to improve air circulation.
